For more than fifty years, Emerson Legacy Endowment, Inc. (formerly Emerson Center, Inc.), owned and operated the 178-unit Emerson Center in Lexington, Kentucky, on a nonprofit basis, providing affordable housing for low-income seniors and disabled persons.  

The Center is now owned by Housing Preservation Incorporated, which has committed to keeping the property as affordable housing. 

After the sale to HPI, Emerson Legacy Endowment, Inc. is continuing as an independent nonprofit with the mission of assisting low-income and disabled seniors through grants to nonprofits that share our goal of improving the quality of life for seniors in Central Kentucky. 

We support organizations that provide essential services, enhance independence, and foster dignity, security, and connection in later life.
